ABOUT

Where it began...
Mitzi Hartman started her career in the transportation industry in 1988 as a driver manager. She managed drivers who hauled petroleum to bulk plants and company owned gas stations. It was there, as a young adult, she realized the importance of the supply chain.
Mitzi's passion comes from many years of navigating through the complexities and challenges that come with trucking. She has gained her wealth of knowledge by rolling up her sleeves and delving into all areas of the business that prove critical to overall success. Mitzi's passion, experience, and no-nonsense approach are the perfect recipe for helping other safety professionals build a solid safety platform.
For over 30 years, I have worked within the trucking industry, and my management roles have encompassed nearly every aspect of the trucking business. I have served as Driver Manager, Office Manager, IT support, Systems Project Manager, Safety and Compliance Manager, Safety and Recruiting Director, and VP of Safety and Process Improvement. The experience I have gained from hiring over 5,000 drivers and managing safety operations for a 300+ driver fleet for several years has enabled me to develop an effective system that I now am privileged to share with others. As Safety Director, my employer earned Illinois Trucking Association's "Motor Carrier of the Year" award and my leadership, passion, and diligence in building an exceptional safety program directly contributed to receiving such an honor.

I am an expert in FMCSA Regulations. My knowledge is comprised of driver qualifications, driver hiring, defensive driver training, drug and alcohol requirements, risk management, claims management, driver recruiting and retention, and process improvement. Throughout my career, I have developed and organized, sustainable safety and record-keeping process to which I attribute my success as a safety professional.

For many years, I have been active in the Illinois Trucking Association, serving on the Safety and Maintenance Council, earning certification from the Illinois Trucking Leadership Program, and have been a speaker and trainer at ITA annual meetings as a respected member of the trucking community. I was honored to be recognized with "The Good Citizen" Award for my efforts as Director of the Teens, Trucks, & Traffic (TTT) program in the Decatur area. In addition, I served on the board of the Illinois Trucking Foundation and advised other carriers in hosting TTT events.
